Strangeloop Networks’ Virginia Balcom Named Finalist in 4th Annual Stevie® Awards For Women in Business
Stevie Award Winners to Be Announced in Las Vegas on November 12
Vancouver, BC -October 24, 2007 - VANCOUVER, BC – October 24, 2007 – Strangeloop Networks ™ Inc., creator of the first network appliance for accelerating dynamic web applications based on Microsoft’s ASP.NET framework, today announced that Virginia Balcom has been named a Finalist in the Best Canadian Executive category in The 4th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide.  The Stevie Awards have been hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars.”  (New York Post, April 27, 2005).

More than 800 entries were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program.  Winners will be announced during an event at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Monday, November 12.  Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries are expected to attend.

Virginia Balcom joined Strangeloop Networks in April 2007 as VP of Marketing and within months created a stellar marketing program to launch the company at a preeminent educational event for the Microsoft development community.  Strangeloop won “Best of Show” at that event.  The company’s successful launch to the Microsoft .NET community played an important role in securing CDN$11.5 million in financing, one of the largest rounds of private investment in a technology company in Canadian history.

“Virginia is a tremendous asset to the Strangeloop team and we’re thrilled that her achievements and talent are being recognized in this way,” said Jonathan Bixby, president and CEO of Strangeloop Networks.  “As head of marketing, Virginia clearly differentiates Strangeloop’s value proposition and is helping to drive the company to market leadership.  She is a true marketing superstar and an integral part of Strangeloop’s success.”

Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.

“Being named a Finalist in The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an important achievement,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards.  “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of recognition.  We congratulate all of the Finalists on their achievement and wish them well in the competition.”
